Das Jahr 2023 ist fast vorbei, Weihnachten und Silvester stehen vor der Tür. Das ist traditionell eine Zeit, in der wir vielleicht etwas weniger reisen und es uns zu Hause gemütlich machen. Und es ist eine Zeit, in der wir uns ein bisschen mehr um unsere Mitmenschen kümmern. Ich weiß, das läuft im hektischen echten Leben leider nicht wirklich immer so ab. Aber das ist auf jeden Fall die Idee, die hinter dieser Zeit steht.
Aus genau diesen Gründen wird diese Folge ein bisschen anders als normalerweise. Zum Jahresende unterbrechen wir unsere Weltreise in Frankfurt und werfen einen Blick mitten ins Herz unserer Stadt.
Hierfür habe ich mir den perfekten Gast ans Mikrofon geholt. Er ist ein Frankfurter Urgestein, das für viele Dinge bekannt ist: als Rapper, als Betreiber der Café Bar Noah in der Innenstadt, als Radiomoderator und vor allem als Initiator sozialer Projekte. Die Rede ist natürlich von Hassan Annouri.
Hassan und ich haben uns Mitte November in seinem Büro zum Gespräch getroffen. Meine Erwartungshaltung war, dass wir vor allem über Frankfurter Rap und über seine marokkanischen Wurzeln sprechen. Tatsächlich haben wir aber vor allem über seine Herzensthemen gesprochen, nämlich sein Engagement für seine Mitmenschen und Zusammenhalt. Hassan erzählt, wie seine Hymne Wir sind alles Frankfurter von einem Song zu einer Bewegung wurde, warum wir beide große Fans davon sind, einen Plan B im Leben zu haben und warum er mit den ganzen Labels, die die Leute ihm geben, gar nichts anfangen kann.

Frankfurter Multitalent mit politischer Botschaft
Das Interview mit Hassan Annouri kam zustande, nachdem Omid Nouripour ihn in der Oktober-Folge nicht nur für seine Rap-Künste, sondern vor allem für sein soziales Engagement lobte. Mit dem Grünen-Chef hat er gemeinsam, dass sie beide Menschen zusammenbringen und sich unermüdlich für ihre Heimatstadt Frankfurt am Main einsetzen.
Hinter Hassans Schaffen steckt viel harte Arbeit, auch wenn das Endergebnis oft nach großem Spaß aussieht. Geld spielt dabei für Hassan keine Rolle. Aber er bekommt, gerade bei den sozialen Projekten, auf einer anderen Ebene viel zurück.
Alle seine Projekte haben eine politische Dimension, explizit oder implizit. Hassan ist eines der Gesichter von Hessen steht auf gegen rechts, einer Initiative gegen die AfD im Vorfeld der hessischen Landtagswahl im Oktober; von Dein Haus der Demokratie, einem der größten Demokratieprojekte in der Bundesrepublik. Und er ist der Künstler hinter der Frankfurt-Hymne Wir sind alles Frankfurter, die mittlerweile zu einer gesellschaftlichen Bewegung für Zusammenhalt in unserer Stadt geworden ist.
Früher äußerte er noch oft negativ über den Frankfurter Politikbetrieb. Er fühlte sich nicht gehört und dementsprechend frustriert. Doch dann merkte er, dass es viel besser ist, die Politiker*innen abzuholen und in seine Projekte zu integrieren. Dieses Prinzip wendet er mittlerweile auf alle Menschen in seinem Umfeld an: Geschäftsleute, Fußballclubs, Vereine, Privatpersonen. Ganz besonders gilt das für Nörgler! Diese Menschen haben oft selbst keine Idee, wie sie sich einbringen können. Nach Hassans Erfahrung werden aber aus Kritiker*innen oft Aktivist*innen, wenn man sie erstmal einbindet.
Hassans Karriere: erst Musik, dann noch viel mehr
Wir sind alles Frankfurter erschien 2021. Tatsächlich ist Hassan aber schon seit dem Beginn seiner Rap-Karriere Anfang der 90er Jahre mit Variety Pac mit Songs rund um die Metropole am Main unterwegs. Ab 2010 folgten die Frankfurt-Hymnen Hurra, Hurra, die Frankfurter sind da und Frankfurter Jungs als Solo-Projekte.
Nach Hurra, Hurra änderte sich Hassans Einstellung zur Musikindustrie. Er empfand den Umgang untereinander zunehmend als undankbar. Frankfurter Labels wie 3P hatten damals kein Interesse daran, andere lokale Künstler zu pushen, die nicht aus dem eigenen Stall kamen. Gleichzeitig zogen viele Kreative nach Berlin.
Hassan blieb. Er hatte Lust auf mehr als nur Musik und widmete sich zunehmend auch anderen Projekten, unter anderem als Produzent von Joy Denalane, Sido und Afrob mit seiner Firma Bock auf’n Beat.
Doch Hassan konnte und wollte mehr, auch außerhalb der Musikindustrie. 2019 eröffnete er die Café Bar Noah in der Nähe der Alten Oper. Außerdem moderiert er seit knapp zehn Jahren jeden Samstagabend die Sendung Main Frankfurt bei Radio Frankfurt.
Die Labels „Rapper“, „Gastronom“ und „Radiomoderator“ mag er allerdings gar nicht. Unter anderem aus diesem Grund überlegt er, eine Stiftung oder einen Verein unter dem Dach von Wir sind alles Frankfurter zu gründen. Als Vorsitzender würde sein Jobtitel dann endlich wieder zu seiner beruflichen Realität passen.
Wir sind alles Frankfurter: Hilfe, wo sie gebraucht wird
Seit dem Erscheinen von Wir sind alles Frankfurter ist aus dem Song eine Bewegung geworden. Dabei ist ihm wichtig, dass er zwar der Initiator und Ideen-Geber ist, aber nicht der Alleinbestimmer, wer sich wie einbringt.
Wie er die Gruppierungen auswählt, denen er hilft? Hassan schaut hin, wer gerade von der Gesellschaft übersehen wird. Dazu gehören unter anderem ältere Menschen. Ein anderes Beispiel: Junge Frauen und Mädchen in Marokko. Als Hassan nach dem Erdbeben dort im September 2023 die Aktion Frankfurt hilft Marokko ins Leben ruft und über 30.000€ an Spendengeldern sammelt, hat er die Wahl, die Summe einem Kinderheim oder einer Bildungsorganisation für Mädchen zu spenden. Da die Kinder bereits mit Spenden gut versorgt waren, entscheidet er sich dafür, die jungen Frauen zu unterstützen.
Hassan arbeitet oft mit sozialen Vereinen in Frankfurt zusammen. Zwei aktuelle Beispiele sind Infrau e.V., das interkulturelle Beratungs- und Bildungszentrum für Frauen, Mädchen und Seniorinnen, und der gemeinnützige Verein Stützende Hände e.V., der unter anderem jeden Tag hilfsbedürftige Menschen in unserer Stadt mit warmen Mahlzeiten versorgt.
Besonders stolz ist Hassan auf das Video zu Wir sind alles Frankfurter. Es zeigt verschiedene Frankfurter Persönlichkeiten, zum Beispiel Peter Possmann, Peter Fischer, Alon Meyer und Mike Josef. Gedreht wurde unter anderem im Deutsche Bank Park, auf der Osthafenbrücke und in der Westend Synagoge.
Der bisherige Höhepunkt in der Geschichte von Wir sind alles Frankfurter war das Release-Konzert in der Paulskirche im Juni 2022 mit 900 Gästen, darunter viele ranghohe Vertreter*innen des Stadtlebens. Spätestens hier wurde Hassan klar: Aus diesem Song muss eine Bewegung werden.
Im Moment ist sogar eine Dokumentation über Hassans Leben in der Mache, bei der Wir sind alles Frankfurter auch eine zentrale Rolle spielen wird. Wie bei allen seinen Projekten geht es hier aber nicht nur um ihn. Viel lieber stellt er andere Menschen aus seinem Umkreis in den Vordergrund.
Bei allem Engagement betont Hassan, dass es in der Frankfurter Szene nicht nur harmonisch zugeht und nicht alle Lust auf ihn als Typ haben. Damit, dass andere mit ihm oder seiner Musik nichts anfangen können, hat er kein Problem. Was aber nicht geht: Kritik daran zu üben, wenn andere sich sozial engagieren. Hassan sieht es nicht als gute Tat an, sich für seine Mitmenschen einzusetzen, sondern als die Verantwortung von jedem einzelnen.
Pionier des Deutschrap
Hassan wurde 1974 geboren und hat in den 80er Jahren die erste Welle des Rap mitbekommen, die aus den USA nach Deutschland herüberschwappte. Er ist als eines von fünf Kindern mit seinen Eltern in einer kleinen Wohnung in Griesheim aufgewachsen, einem harten Pflaster. Als Jugendlicher sah er amerikanische Hip Hop-Filme und konnte sich total mit den Charakteren identifizieren.
Die Art, wie er und seine Frankfurter Mitstreiter wie D-Flame, Azad und Tone aufgewachsen sind, hat selbstverständlich den Rap-Stil und die Themen in ihren Songs geprägt. Hip Hopper aus anderen Orten Deutschlands, wie die Stuttgarter Jungs der Fantastischen Vier, hatten einen anderen Hintergrund und dementsprechend einen anderen Fokus in ihrer Musik. Hassan betont: „Das ist gar kein Vorwurf, das war eben so.“
Zur Anfangszeit der deutschen Hip Hop-Kultur wurde nur auf Englisch gerappt. Deutsch galt als uncool. Die Frankfurter Künstler waren die ersten, die in den frühen 90er Jahren anfingen, Songs in ihrer Muttersprache zu veröffentlichen. Damals gab es bundesweit keine Vorbilder hierfür. Hassan und Co. haben hier Pionierarbeit geleistet.
Ein Hoch auf Plan B
Der New School-Rap von jungen Künstler*innen heute hat mit der Musik von vor über 30 Jahren nichts mehr zu tun. Laut Hassan wissen viele der heute 20-30jährigen nicht, wo Hip Hop seine Wurzeln hat. Er selbst ist umgekehrt mittlerweile völlig raus aus dem aktuellen Musikgeschehen.
Sein Rat an junge Kreative: Habt nicht nur einen Plan B im Kopf, sondern verwirklicht ihn auch nebenher! Ansonsten besteht das Risiko, mit nichts dazustehen, wenn der Erfolg nachlässt oder von vorneherein ausbleibt.
Hassans nächster Rat: Rennt nicht dem Geld hinterher! Was bringt es, immer mehr scheffeln zu wollen? Natürlich ist es wichtig, dass das Auskommen stimmt. Aber wer darüber hinaus den Hals nicht vollkriegt, läuft Gefahr, seine Authentizität für mehr Profit aufs Spiel zu setzen. Dann bleibt der Erfolg erst recht aus. Und man hat keinerlei Erfüllung durch einen immer höheren Kontostand.
Hassans Botschaft zum Jahresende
Weihnachten verbringt Hassan gemeinsam mit seiner Familie in Frankfurt. Über Silvester geht es für drei Wochen nach Thailand. In dieser Zeit bleibt das Noah geschlossen. Er verzichtet hier auf Geld, bekommt dafür aber ein motiviertes und gut ausgeruhtes Team zurück.
Er selbst genießt die Zeit in Thailand sehr. Durch die Einstellung der Menschen dort, mit weniger materiellen Gütern glücklich zu sein, sieht er sich in seiner Haltung bestätigt.
Hassans Botschaft an alle zu Weihnachten und für 2024: Lasst euch nicht spalten! Religion, Hautfarbe und Herkunft sind komplett egal. Bei den Konflikten in der Welt geht es vielmehr um Geld und Machtspiele von Regierungen. Weihnachten aber ist eine tolle Zeit, um zusammenzuhalten. Vielleicht färbt das ab auf 2024.

Hassan Annouri – Why we are all Frankfurtians
The year 2023 is almost over, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are just around the corner. This is traditionally a time when we perhaps travel a little less and cosy up at home. And it’s a time when we take a little more care of our fellow human beings. I know that unfortunately this doesn’t always happen in hectic real life. But that’s definitely the idea behind this time.
For precisely these reasons, this episode will be a little different than usual. At the end of the year, we take a break from our trip around the world in Frankfurt and take a look right into the heart of our city.
I’m joined today by the perfect guest for this. He is a true Frankfurtian who is known for many things: as a rapper, as the owner of Café Bar Noah in the city center, as a radio presenter and, above all, as the initiator of social projects. He is, of course, Hassan Annouri.
Hassan and I met in his office for a chat in mid-November. My expectation was that we would mainly talk about Frankfurt rap and his Moroccan roots. But in fact, we mainly talked about topics close to his heart, namely his commitment to his fellow human beings and solidarity. Hassan talks about how his anthem Wir sind alles Frankfurter (We are all Frankfurtians) went from a song to a movement, why we’re both big fans of having a plan B in life and why he’s not a fan of all the labels people give him.

Frankfurt all-round talent with a political message
The interview with Hassan Annouri came about after Omid Nouripour praised him in the October episode not only for his rap skills, but above all for his social commitment. What he has in common with the Green Party leader is that they both bring people together and work tirelessly for their home city of Frankfurt am Main.
When it comes to Hassan’s projects, there is always hard work behind the scenes, even if the end result often looks like a lot of fun. Money, however, doesn’t matter that much to him. Instead, he gets a lot back on another level with the social projects he’s involved in.
All his projects have a political dimension, explicitly or implicitly. Hassan is one of the faces of Hessen steht auf gegen rechts (Hessen stands up), an initiative against the extreme-right party AfD in the run-up to the Hessian state elections in October; of Dein Haus der Demokratie (Your house of democracy), one of the largest democracy projects in Germany. And he is the artist behind the Frankfurt anthem Wir sind alles Frankfurter (We are all Frankfurtians), which has since become a social movement for cohesion in our city.
In the past, he often made negative comments about the Frankfurt political scene. He felt that he was not being listened to and was therefore frustrated. But then he realized that it is much better to reach out to the politicians and integrate them into his projects. He now applies this principle to everyone around him: Business people, soccer clubs, associations, private individuals. This is especially true for haters! These people often have no idea themselves how they can get involved. In Hassan’s experience, however, critics often become activists once you get them involved.
Hassan’s career: first music, then much more
Wir sind alles Frankfurter was released in 2021, but Hassan has actually been putting out music about the metropolis on the Main with Variety Pac since the start of his rap career in the early 90s. From 2010, the Frankfurt anthems Hurra, Hurra, die Frankfurter sind da and Frankfurter Jungs followed as solo projects.
After Hurra, Hurra, Hassan’s attitude towards the music industry changed. He found the way people treated each other increasingly ungrateful. At the time, Frankfurt labels like 3P had no interest in pushing other local artists who didn’t come from their own ranks. At the same time, many creatives moved to Berlin.
Hassan stayed. He wanted more than just music and increasingly devoted himself to other projects, for instance as a producer for Joy Denalane, Sido and Afrob with his company Bock auf’n Beat.
But Hassan was willing and able to aim for more, even outside the music industry. In 2019, he opened Café Bar Noah near the Alte Oper. He has also been hosting the Main Frankfurt show on Radio Frankfurt every Saturday night for almost ten years.
However, he doesn’t like the labels „rapper“, „restaurateur“ and „radio presenter“ at all. This is one of the reasons why he is considering setting up a foundation or association under the umbrella of Wir sind alles Frankfurter. As chairman, his job title would then finally match his professional reality again.
Wir sind alles Frankfurter: Help where it is needed
Since the release of Wir sind alles Frankfurter, the song has become a movement. It is important to Hassan that he is the initiator and idea giver, but he doesn’t determine who gets involved and how.
How does he select the groups he helps? Hassan looks at who is currently being overlooked by society. This includes older people, for example. Another example: young women and girls in Morocco. When Hassan launched the Frankfurt hilft Marokko campaign (Frankfurt helps Morocco) after the earthquake there in September 2023 and collected over €30,000 in donations, he had the choice of donating the money to a children’s home or an educational organization for girls. As the children were already well provided for with donations, he decided to support the young women.
Hassan often works with social organizations in Frankfurt. Two current examples are Infrau e.V. the intercultural advice and education center for women, girls and senior citizens, and the non-profit association Stützende Hände e.V., which, among other things, provides people in need in our city with hot meals every day.
Hassan is particularly proud of the video for Wir sind alles Frankfurter. It shows various Frankfurt personalities, for example Peter Possmann, Peter Fischer, Alon Meyer and Mike Josef. The video was filmed in Deutsche Bank Park, on the Osthafenbrücke bridge and in the Westend Synagogue, among other places.
The highlight in the history of Wir sind alles Frankfurter so far was the release concert in St. Paul’s Church in June 2022 with 900 guests, including many high-ranking representatives of city life. This was when Hassan realized that this song had to become a movement.
A documentary about Hassan’s life is currently being made, in which Wir sind alles Frankfurter will also play a central role. As with all his projects, however, it’s not just about him. He prefers to focus on other people in his circle.
Despite his commitment, Hassan emphasizes that the Frankfurt scene is not always harmonious and that not everyone is keen on him as a person. He has no problem with the fact that others don’t like him or his music. But he has no time for people criticizing when others get involved in social causes. Hassan doesn’t see it as a good deed to stand up for his fellow human beings, but as the responsibility of each individual.
Pioneer of German rap
Hassan was born in 1974 and witnessed the first wave of rap in the 80s, which spilled over from the USA to Germany. He was one of five children who grew up with his parents in a small apartment in Griesheim, a tough area. As a teenager, he watched American hip hop films and totally identified with the characters.
The way he and his Frankfurt comrades-in-arms such as D-Flame, Azad and Tone grew up naturally influenced their rap style and the themes in their songs. Hip hoppers from other places in Germany, such as the Stuttgart boys of the Fantastischen Vier, had a different background and therefore a different focus in their music. Hassan emphasizes: „That’s not a reproach at all, that’s just the way it was.“
In the early days of German hip hop culture, people only rapped in English. German was considered uncool. The Frankfurt artists were the first to start releasing songs in their native language in the early 90s. At the time, there were no role models for this in Germany. Hassan and Co. did pioneering work here.
Hurray for Plan B
The new school rap of young artists today has nothing to do with the music of over 30 years ago. According to Hassan, many of today’s 20-30-year-olds don’t know where hip hop has its roots. Conversely, he himself is now completely out of the current music scene.
His advice to young creatives: don’t just have a plan B in your head, but also realize it on the side! Otherwise, you run the risk of being left with nothing if success slows down or doesn’t materialize from the outset.
Hassan’s next piece of advice: don’t chase after money! What’s the point of wanting to rake in more and more? Of course it’s important to make a good living. But if you don’t know your limits, you run the risk of compromising your authenticity for more profit. This will harm your success. And you won’t get any fulfilment from an ever-increasing bank balance.
Hassan’s message for the end of the year
Hassan spends Christmas with his family in Frankfurt. Over New Year’s Eve, he goes to Thailand for three weeks. During this time, Noah will remain closed. He forgoes money here, but gets a motivated and well-rested team back in return.
He himself really enjoys his time in Thailand. The attitude of the people there, who are happy with fewer material goods, confirms him in his stance.
Hassan’s message to everyone at Christmas and for 2024: Don’t let yourselves be divided! Religion, skin color and origin are completely irrelevant. The conflicts in the world are more about money and power games between governments. But Christmas is a great time to stick together. Maybe that will spill over into 2024.
